One Brush, One Breath: Japanese Calligraphy as Mindfulness Practice
Saturday, September 29th
10:00am – 11:30am
Be part of Mayu’s inaugural Tea Room Presentation! These intimate gatherings inside Mayu’s new tea room let you experience life as art, through the simple practice of mindfulness.
Join Mayu Co-op member Yoshiko Miyamoto as she demonstrates the centuries-old skill of Japanese calligraphy.
Through storytelling and hands-on instruction you will learn the history and basics of calligraphy, and why it is considered a contemplative exercise.
Participants will enjoy a short, silent meditation before practicing the quiet art of mixing ink, handling a brush, and painting characters.
No art or meditation experience required. All supplies provided.
